Readout — Terms & Privacy

This page covers what is specific to Readout, the custom-reports app, and how its AI report builder works. It sits on top of the terms and privacy notice common to every Keelhelm app; read them together.

What Readout reads and does

Readout requests read access to your orders, products, customers, inventory, fulfillments, discounts, and payment payouts to run 150+ prebuilt reports and to build custom reports. It reads this data to compute reports; it does not request permission to write to your store.

How the AI report builder works

Readout is the one Keelhelm app with an AI feature. When you describe a report in your own words, your request is sent to an AI model that translates it into a validated report definition — the specific fields, filters, and groupings to compute. The model chooses only from that constrained set; it never receives or runs raw database queries, and every report shows the exact definition it ran so you can audit precisely what it computed. What is sent to the model is your request text and the report's structural parameters — not your customers' personal data. The computed report numbers themselves are produced by our own systems from your synced data, not by the model.

No training on your data

Your store data and report requests are not used to train any AI model. The model is used only to turn a single request into a report definition, then the interaction is done.

Correctness

A wrong number is worse than no report. Every report displays its underlying definition; cross-check figures against your Shopify admin before relying on them for accounting, tax, or other formal purposes.

Plans

Readout offers Free, Starter, Growth, and Unlimited plans, at the same price whatever your own Shopify plan, billed through Shopify (monthly, or annually at a discount). AI-generation volume and saved-report counts are the dimensions the plans meter; current prices and limits are on the pricing page.

Data retention and deletion

Synced data, saved report definitions, and delivery schedules are kept while Readout is installed and are deleted or anonymized on uninstall and on Shopify's customers/redact and shop/redact requests, as described in the common privacy notice.

Beyond this page, the common app terms and app privacy notice apply, and so do the company-wide Terms, Acceptable Use, Privacy, and Copyright / DMCA policies, incorporated by reference.
